Observations.....
As I stepped out my back door this morning, I saw various items strewn about. A football, a man's boot, and a plastic butter container. Now, the butter container I can explain. I was feeding a couple of stray dogs that turned out not to be strays, but escapees from a few houses down. I'll assume the man's boot was a thank you gift that they left. As for the football? Your guess is as good as mine.
I got in my car and headed into my day.
I stopped at Mapco Express to fill up my tank. There, over the pump was a sign listing a vast assortment of items..... Ice, soda, coffee, water, wrapping paper, candy....hold up....WRAPPING PAPER? One never knows just WHAT they can find at the Mapco.
Cruising down I24, I found myself behind a minivan that was driving a whopping 55. Now, I have nothing against driving 55, but the speed limit is 70. Of course, my exit was too close to drive around them, so I chugged along patiently and prayed they made it safely to their destination without incident from a road rage infected driver.
There were two state troopers sitting on 840 talking. Funny how motorists slow down until they're just barely out of view, then step on the gas like there's no tomorrow.
I decided to exit 840 and hit 96 in order to avoid the I65/Peytonsville road nightmare and found myself behind a nursery truck that was delivering the biggest darned tree. It looked like an evergreen and was wrapped in burlap. There was a red ribbon tied on the very tip, because it hung well over the tailgate of the trailer. I followed the bouncing ribbon along wondering just how big a hole would have to be dug and HOW were they going to get the darned thing off the truck and into the hole, not to mention keeping it straight while planting it.
I pulled into the parking lot at work and noticed whiteness in the air. Upon further inspection, it was as suspected.....snow flurries. Now I'm having visions of a roaring fire and hot chocolate. Guess I better get my mind back on work.....
